Zakat calculator
Work out the zakat due on what you own. Enter gold and silver in grams with the price per gram, then your cash, what you are owed and what you owe. Zakat is one fortieth - 2.5 per cent - of net wealth once it reaches nisab and a full lunar year has passed. The nisab is a weight of metal, so it only becomes a rupee figure with a price: enter the price of gold or silver per gram and the page works out the threshold and tells you which one it applied. All figures are in Pakistani rupees (PKR).

Zakat is one fortieth of net zakatable wealth - 2.5 per cent - and it is charged on the whole of that wealth once it reaches nisab, not on the amount by which it exceeds it. The nisab is 7.5 tola of gold, which is 87.48 grams, or 52.5 tola of silver, which is 612.36 grams. Because the nisab is a weight, it can only be turned into a rupee figure with a price, so the threshold above is whatever the prices you entered work out to on the day you use this page.
The two thresholds are a long way apart, and that matters: at ordinary prices the silver nisab is a small fraction of the gold one, so which applies decides whether zakat is due at all. Practice in the subcontinent measures gold alone against 7.5 tola, and measures cash, silver, trade goods and receivables against the value of 52.5 tola of silver - which is the comparison applied here, because it is the one used for cash and mixed wealth. Where the two would give different answers, the page says so rather than choosing quietly. This is not a religious ruling: confirm your own position with a scholar. The rupee nisab the Administrator General Zakat notifies each year for deduction at source on savings accounts is a different figure serving a different purpose, and is not what is used here.
This page covers the wealth entered above for an individual. It does not cover business stock and trade goods, agricultural produce, livestock, shares and investments, pension or provident funds, or gold and silver held as jewellery in a form that carries its own treatment - all of which have their own rules.
