What Is an Islamic Brokerage Window?

A dedicated, SECP-approved way to invest in the stock market without compromising your principles.

An Islamic brokerage window lets you buy and sell shares listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange in a manner consistent with Shariah principles. The mechanics of trading are familiar — what changes is the discipline around them: interest (riba) is avoided, and the companies available to you are screened so your money does not support activity that Islamic principles do not permit.

For investors who have stayed away from the equity market out of Shariah concern, a dedicated window offers a clear way forward — the same regulated exchange, served on a permissible basis.

Investing the Halal Way

Shariah Screening

Only securities that pass Shariah screening — excluding interest-based financial services, gambling, alcohol and similar non-permissible business — are eligible for your portfolio.

No Interest-Based Leverage

The window does not use interest-based margin financing, so borrowed-money trading plays no part in how your account is run.

Income Purification

Should any incidental income that does not meet the criteria accrue, it is identified and given to charity — keeping your earnings clean.

Oversight & Segregation

The window operates under the SECP-approved framework, and client funds and securities remain segregated from company money in custodial accounts.

Common Questions

Answers about how the Islamic brokerage window works.

What is an Islamic brokerage window?

An Islamic brokerage window is a dedicated offering of a licensed broker through which investors can trade shares in a Shariah-compliant manner. Rafi Securities Limited is honored to be one of the first members in Pakistan to secure SECP approval to operate one.

What makes an investment Shariah-compliant?

Three disciplines: the businesses you can invest in are screened to exclude interest-based finance, gambling, alcohol and similar non-permissible activity; interest-based leverage is avoided; and any incidental income that does not meet the criteria is purified by giving it to charity.

Can I trade any share listed on the PSX?

You can trade shares of listed companies that pass Shariah screening. A company’s eligibility depends on the nature of its business and how it manages its finances, so the permissible list is reviewed regularly rather than fixed once.

How is the window different from a conventional account?

You trade through the same SECP-regulated broker and the same exchange, but holdings and transactions follow Shariah criteria — for example, without interest-based margin financing — so your investing stays consistent with your beliefs.

How do I open an account?

Call or WhatsApp 021-111-159-111 / 0337-3159159, email info@rafisecurities.com, or visit rafisecurities.com (opens in a new tab). Standard account-opening documents — CNIC, proof of income and IBAN — apply.

Who regulates the window?

Rafi Securities Limited is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), holds a Trading Right Entitlement Certificate of the Pakistan Stock Exchange and is an active member of the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange. Client funds and securities remain segregated from company money in custodial accounts.
