Dividend calculator
Work out what a dividend from a company listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange is actually worth once tax has been deducted. The company, or the Central Depository Company on its behalf, withholds the tax before the money reaches you, so the amount announced and the amount credited are different figures. Enter the dividend per share, how many shares you hold, and whether you are on the Active Taxpayers' List. All figures are in Pakistani rupees (PKR).

Tax on a dividend is withheld at source under section 150 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, read with the Tenth Schedule, as amended by the Finance Act, 2026. The standard rate on a dividend from a listed company is 15 per cent for a person on the Active Taxpayers' List and 30 per cent for a person who is not, the higher figure being the standard rate raised by 100 per cent under rule 1 of the Tenth Schedule. There is no threshold and no holding period: the tax is a straight percentage of the gross dividend, and it is the status on the date of payment that decides which rate applies. The rates quoted above are the ones for tax year 2027 (1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027).
This calculator covers an ordinary dividend from a company listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange, for individuals and associations of persons. It does not cover the other categories in section 150, which carry their own rates: dividends from independent power producers, from mutual funds, from a special purpose vehicle or a real estate investment trust, or a dividend received by a company with no tax liability. It also does not cover Super Tax under section 4C. Whether the tax withheld is the final tax on the dividend depends on your own position, so confirm it with your tax adviser.
